1. Demand Letter Submission to the Minister, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation
Nepal Energy Foundation (NEF) and Women Network for Energy and Environment (WONEE) jointly handed over the letter of demand to Mr. Barsaman Pun, Minister, Ministry of Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation (MoEWRI). The Letter summoned for the equal participation of men and women on policy formulation on energy sector and decision-making procedure.
Nepal, being a male dominated country, has less involvement of women in decision-making role in every sector. Organization like NEF and WONEE would like to change the scenario in energy sector and a demand letter was prepared and submitted to the authorized government agency with the expectation of transformation in gender equality scenario in policy formulation.
The team, led by Mr. Dilli Prasad Ghimire, Managing Director of NEF and Ms. Kala Timalsina, Chairman of WONEE, emphasized that involvement of women should be ensured as per the objective of Nepal Constitution Act. And, provisions should be made for certainty of involvement of women on establishment of any hydro project; equal investment and return access for women on any hydro project; and capacity building of women for employment opportunities on energy sector.
2. Electric Cook Stove Standard Dissemination

Nepal Energy Foundation has provided technical consultancy support to Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) for development of Electric Cookstoves Standard for Nepal with support from the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA).
The standard is a technical document providing in-depth description of different parameters and requirements of electric cooktops; the synopsis of which is printed in a book, prepared with the objective of communicating the major provisions of standards in a simpler form. The book, written in both Nepali and English language for easy understanding of the general people, is intended to promote quality product in Nepalese market and assist consumers in selecting and use of quality cooktop.
The Standards and its Synopsis was disseminated in a workshop jointly organized by Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), NBSM, NEF, and CCA on 20th December 2020 in presence of Hon. Member of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, Director General of NBSM, Executive Director of AEPC, and other key delegates of the related agencies and institutions working in the energy sector of Nepal.
3. Interaction on Electrical safety Awareness and its safety song launching

Nepal Energy Foundation (NEF) and Women Network on Energy and Environment (WoNEE) jointly organized the program on 26th December 2019 with the objective of discussing about the causes of increasing electrical hazards and find the way forward. An electrical safety song (Bidhutiya Surakshya Sandesh geet) prepared by WoNEE and NEF was launched at the program in the presence of the Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, Mr. Kulman Ghising, related stakeholders, and women from the different districts. The song carries a message for raising awareness to the general public to minimize electrical hazards.
