Nepal Energy Foundation invites applications from candidates, meeting the eligibility criteria given below for a research scholarship.
Nepal Energy Foundation (NEF) is working as Nepal Think Tank for implementing outreach and dissemination activities of SARI/EI program in Nepal. The main objective of the dissemination activities is to prioritize, fast track and push the agenda for Cross Border Energy Trade (CBET). Youth outreach and promoting research on the various aspects of CBET are the key focus areas of these activities. Accordingly, NEF as Nepal Think Tank seeks to create research scholarships for selected students/academicians to do research/work on subjects relevant to the SARI/EI objectives.
The specific objectives of the research scholarship are
  • (a) To conduct research regarding the role played by cross border energy trade in the nation’s energy security and sustainable socio-economic development
  • (b) To create awareness and interest of youth on the areas related to renewable energy, energy security, clean energy access, sustainable development, role of energy access in livelihoods/gender, and climate change
  • (c) Creating larger understanding in the grass root levels on how CBET has a positive impact on the broader socio-economic parameters of the nation.
 
With these specific objectives, basic thrust of research areas is supposed to be
  • (i) Cross border energy trade in the country and its positive impacts on the overall development, reduction in carbon emissions of the country
  • (ii) Socio-economic impacts – How CBET can promote inclusive, sustainable development/ positive impacts on employment and on gender
  • (iii) Research in areas related to renewable energy, energy security, clean energy access, livelihoods, gender and climate change.
 
Timeline for research to be completed and report to be submitted is 3 months.
The interested applicant must complete the following eligibility criteria:
  • (a) Academic qualification:
    The applicant should have a Master degree of above in the areas of energy/ clean energy/sustainable development/power trade/ economics/ international relations.
  • (b) Citizenship:
    The applicant should be Nepalese citizen.
  • (c) Experience:
    The applicant should have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in research in the areas of energy/clean energy/sustainable development/power trade as well as experience in producing research outputs and project reports.
  • (d) Language:
    Applicant should have Good English verbal and written skills.
  • (e) NOC:
    In case the selected fellow is employed then the fellow has to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer to undertake the fellowship. Selected fellow is expected to work by and large independently.
 
How to apply?
Interested candidates meeting the eligibility criteria shall submit their interest through a research proposal to Nepal Energy Foundation in the email: [email protected]. The proposal should include declaration of the interest to undertake the research, applicant’s profile, sample of work done previously in related areas along with suggested theme and detailed outline of the research sought to be undertaken under the program, with emphasis on potential impact of proposed research project on a particular aspect related to CBET.
Evaluation Procedure
NEF will form an evaluation committee to review and evaluate obtained proposals and take final decision.
